Early Autumn Tarot Workshops with Grace

Workshops forming now: For family and friends, and their family and friends, or former students, only, Grace is holding a sequence of Tarot Workshops in Anaheim near the intersection of La Palma and Euclid on Wednesdays 7 to 9 pm (meets 10/17, 10/24, 10/31/2007, $20 per workshop, maximum 6 attendees). With gentle persuasion, she may hold additional workshops in Huntington Beach near the intersection of Warner and Springdale on Saturdays 10am - Noon, or on 1st and 3rd Sundays 10am ? Noon. $20 per workshop, maximum 8 attendees. Bring your favorite Tarot deck and the book that has the pictures that match your cards plus your notes from your Tarot class(es). We will practice reading for one another to gain experience, working our way through a variety of spreads that Grace has found useful over the years. When to Come in for Your Next Reading....

When should you come in for another reading .... Here is what I told a client who was treating her sister to some readings during a difficult period in her life: "The admonition that one should not "get another reading for [fill in the blank -- a month, 3 months, 6 months, a year] ...." applies to those people who would rather come in for a reading, hoping for a better prognosis, than to do anything about improving their lives. Your sister, like you, is not one of them! I know from personal experience that you take the "Message of the Stars" to heart and work over your life to improve it, and it turns out that your sister is like you in that respect. Since you hold her in such high regard as well as in sisterly love, I was sure that she would listen and learn and apply what she learned. "The rule of thumb for getting another reading should be: When you've done what you can in the way of taking advantage of the energies from the transiting and progressed planetary aspects, and have got new directions, focus, motion, momentum, etc., in your life, yes, it is definitely okay to get another reading, either for another look-ahead or for a bit of fine-tuning. "Sometimes, just the shift in consciousness of considering previously unseen options is all that is necessary. Sometimes it means having arranged scholarships and grants, switched from an unproductive full-time job to a part-time job that allows time for study and attending classes, and enrolling in school for additional training or for a new career direction (this applies to another client). Sometimes it means telling your partner "It's time for us to talk about us." The admonition about waiting some amount of time for a reading is really about making a shift in your consciousness, your life, yourself. "Do you want to squeeze a reading for your sister into your packing for vacation schedule, or do you want to wait until you get back? I could update and read her chart, but I'd rather be able to ask you (or her) specifics about what changes she has made, what all she has underway, and so on. While people don't typically go into their doctor's office and say "What's wrong with me and how are you going to fix it?", they too often take this attitude with their psychic, expecting the psychic to correctly diagnose their condition and prescribe a fool-proof remedy. I'm just not that psychic, I need clues! "That said, I have Monday afternoons, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, and some Friday afternoons free. What works for you?"

Mercury Retrograde Alert!

Mercury makes its last retrograde pass of 2006 starting this Saturday, October 28, at 12:16 PDT in 25 Scorpio, ending on November 17 at 7:25 pm in 9 Scorpio. Mercury retrograde corresponds to a time of miscommunicated communications, misfiled paperwork, lost records, shipments gone astray, cargoes incorrectly laded, invalid, unavailable, or unvalidatable data, lapses of memory, "Oh, it's on the tip of my tongue!" etc. Expect indecision, changes of plans, delays in business matters, errors, and the disruptions these cause in our lives. Those with Mercury prominent, especially Geminis and Virgos (ruled by Mercury), plus those with Mercury rising or culminating, or with natal Mercury between 9 and 25 degrees of any of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), or in the last 5 degrees (24 - 29 degrees) of any of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) or in the first 10 degrees of any of the Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), may have been feeling the effects of this retrograde Mercury as early as October 9, when it reached 9 Scorpio and began to cross the part of Scorpio it will retrograde over, and may continue to feel its effects as late as December 4, when it "clears Shadow" i.e., gets past the degree when it turned retrograde (25 Scorpio). During its retrograde pass, Mercury may bring up for review plans and decisions made on or about these dates regarding these matters: October 30-31, conjunct Jupiter: revisit October 21-22 decision to expand business/teaching/publishing operations -- may not resettle until December 8-9. October 31 - November 1 square Saturn: revisit October 23 plans and promises -- may not resettle until December 4. November 6-7 conjunct Venus: revisit something you said to a friend or to a woman, or some luxury item you bought. November 7-8 square Neptune: revisit your October 15-16 dream or inspiration -- may not resettle until November 28-29. November 8 conjunct Sun: revisit August 31 - September 1 information garnered or decision made -- may not resettle until January 6, 2007. November 10-11 conjunct Mars: revisit September 15 action taken -- may not clear until December 29-30. November 12-13 trine Uranus: revisit October 10-11 intuition, impulse for change, or technology purchase -- may not settle until November 22-23. This list only includes Ptolemaic aspects of Mercury to the other planets, not including the Moon. You may have additional adjustments to make when Mercury makes semi-squares (45 degrees) and sesqui-squares (135 degrees), quintiles (72 or 144 degrees), septiles (51, 103, or 154 degrees). Note that the November 8, 1:31 PST, conjunction of Mercury and the Sun is "the transit of Mercury" i.e., Mercury crossing the face of the Sun, as viewed from the Earth. Scientists will use this opportunity to re-refine estimates as to the size and mass of Mercury and the Sun, relativistic effects of the Sun on Mercury's orbit, etc. The Sun is so massive and Mercury so close to it that astronomers hypothesized another planet -- Vulcan, Lilith, Counter-Earth, you-name-it -- to account for the motion of Mercury that was not accountable by Ptolemaic epicycles, Kepler's Laws of Planetary Motion, and Newton's Law of Gravitation. Do not attempt to view the transit of Mercury with your naked eyes nor with a pair of binoculars, etc. Be sure to get special lenses from your camera store for viewing the Sun.

Using Astrology to Choose Start Times by Grace

Electional Astrology is the art of selecting the most propitious time to start a new venture, whatever its nature. The astrologer calculates the horoscopes of the participants, then looks in the Ephemeris (a book listing the planets' daily positions) for the days with the planets in positions most favorable for the participants for the purposes of the new venture. Suppose John and Tom wanted to start a business using both their talents, John's talents being more technical and Tom's being more administrative and people-oriented. The Astrologer would start by calculating both John's and Tom's natal and progressed horoscopes (assuming both know the time and place of their birth). The Astrologer would first check that John's and Tom's horoscopes indicate business compatibility (Saturn, Jupiter, and Mercury contacts between the two men's charts). Then the Astrologer would look in the Ephemeris for the dates when Jupiter (expansiveness) and Mercury (communication) make favorable contacts to the Natal and Progressed positions of Jupiter in Tom's horoscope, and the dates when Saturn (planning) and Mercury (detail) make favorable contacts to the Natal and Progressed positions of Saturn in John's horoscope. If only one particular day has these contacts, the Astrologer notifies the men, and picks the most favorable day for signing paperwork for partnership or incorporation (Mercury contacts for signing paperwork). Throughout the whole process, the Astrologer is watching for favorable contacts between the Sun, Mars, and Venus to both men's horoscopes for creativity (Sun contacts), energy (Mars contacts), and enjoyment, especially income (Venus contacts). Also, through out the whole process, the Astrologer is checking for favorable contacts to the planets ruling both men's Second (income), Fifth (investments), Sixth (working environment), Seventh (partnership), eighth (financing), and Tenth (the Public) Houses.
